David Furer is an internationally recognized journalist, marketer and speaker, David's work has taken him to the world's most recognized and most far-flung wine-producing locales. With over two decades in the wine trade he's the co-founder of The Climate of Wine Leadership Initiative (2019); author of Wine Places (Mitchell Beazley 2005); a major contributor to the book Opus Vino/The Wine Opus (Dorling Kindersley 2010), Tom Stevenson’s Wine Report (Dorling Kindersley 2005-2008), and Hugh Johnson’s Pocket Wine Book (Mitchell Beazley 2007) with writings and interviews appearing in US, UK, and French wine media outlets.

He has presented for wine-knowledgeable audiences from 7 to 700 throughout the globe.
He managed and hosted conferences on climate change in Spain and Hong Kong's Wine Future 2011. Recently he created and staged: Origins of Wine Civilization in SF and DC's Smithsonian as well as Austria Abroad in New York's Finger Lakes. His 'Origins of Wine Civilization' program is featured at the San Francisco Wine School. In 2018 he will be directing a climate conference in Porto.
A former contributing editor to Santé and The Sommelier Journal, David may now be read at Wine Business Monthly, France's Sommeliers International, and the SFWS's blog with his Insider Interview series. David served two terms on the UK's Circle of Wine Writers executive committee and passed the advanced exams of the Court of Master Sommeliers.
